SimpleScrumTools is a Scrum tool for small and mid-size teams. Aaron Hall built it, and Strategic Move LLC publishes it.
The product
SimpleScrumTools is a web app for teams that run Scrum. It has a Product Backlog that you groom, sprints that start on a Monday, and Scrum Events that record their own notes.
It is for small and mid-size teams. A general-purpose tracker is too heavy for them, and a plain board is too loose. The bet behind the product: a team does not want a work tracker to configure. It wants the Scrum Events to happen, and it wants the record of each one to come from the event itself.
Scrum is the method, not a template
The product uses the Scrum Guide’s own words: Product Goal, Sprint Goal, Definition of Done, Increment and the Scrum Events. A sprint cannot start without a Sprint Goal.
The record is a side effect
The Scrum Events capture their own notes. Change an item while a session is open, and the notes of that session show the change. Nobody types it a second time.
Very little to configure
An item has a status and a phase. You set the phases once for each project, in the order the work goes through them. That is the whole workflow configuration.
Permissions on one screen
Roles grant eight capability bundles, and one screen shows them all. A team role covers the work of that team. One override for each person on a project is the only exception.

Aaron Hall, MBA, PMP, CSM, leads Strategic Move LLC. Aaron has more than 20 years of experience as a finance and accounting transformation leader. The work covers three areas:

Why SimpleScrumTools exists
Large projects need a tool that treats Scrum as the method. A Scrum template on a general tracker is not the same thing. Aaron built SimpleScrumTools to be that tool.
